Nokia announced re-branding its mobile app store OVI.From July onwards nokia phones will not carry OVI brand instead it replaced with “Nokia services”.
Nokia announced in its blog that the brand renaming is just the part of transition of Nokia into the windows ecosystem. This transition was in agreement by Microsoft as they wish to have united app store combining the windows marketplace and OVI.
However the company assured to its users that it isn’t closing down OVI and its just renaming it.[blog post]
“We have made the decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture – while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike.”
